Trichy or Tiruchirappalli is an important city in Tamil nadu.
By Road :
Trichy is well connected by road from all major cities of Tamilnadu besides many important cities of the neighbouring states like Bangalore, Mysore, Palghat, Tiruvananthapuram, Calicut, Tirupati and Hyderabad.
By Train:
Trichy is one of the main junctions in the Southern Railway. Trichy is connected by rail from Chennai, Madurai, Tenkasi, Quilon, Coimbatore, Tirupati, Thanjavur, Tuticorin and Rameswaram. There are many trains which originate at Trichy to Howrah, New Delhi and other places. While the main line from Chennai to Trichy is being converted into Broad Guage, the chord line is broad guage and travel time is around 5 and half hours from Chennai.
By Air:
Trichy has a domestic airport terminat located at 5 kms. from the heart of the city. There are direct flights from Trichy to Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Sharjah, Kuwait and Colombo. Air Lanka operates a service to Colombo from Trichy.
Local Transportation :
There are many Government run Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation, Trichy buses which connects Trichy to nearby cities and towns like Thanjavur, Karur, Mayiladuthurai and Villupuram. Also, plenty of city bus (town service) are being run from Central Bus Stand to most of the important places in and around Trichy. Besides buses, there are numerous autos, call taxi services, tour taxi operators and other modes of transport are also available.
